Alex McLeish is as honest as the day is long - and that's why he refuses to lead supporters down the garden path when it comes to potential transfer targets.

With the January transfer window fast approaching speculation is hotting up as to which players may join clubs across the land.

Alex McLeishAnd Blues are no exception. The national media have gone into their twice-yearly pre-window frenzy and plenty of names are being bandied around.

One of those is that of Milan Jovanovic, the Standard Liege striker.

But, quite rightly, McLeish, talking at his pre-Wolves versus Blues press conference on Friday, refused to get drawn into lengthy conversation about any individual.

The Blues boss said: "I've always admired Jovanovic but whether he's a player who can come here or not remains to be seen. I'm sure he's got many admirers but it's a shame that certain names get out into the ether because we try and keep as much private as possible.

"I feel uncomfortable talking about players. From the fans perspective if they see us linked with players like that it's brilliant, but I don't want to disappoint them because I could list another six big names that would excite them but if we don't get them you disappoint people.

"So I'd rather keep my business private and move forward."
