JEROME BACK FOR BLUES

Cameron Jerome celebrates after scoring for Blues at Liverpool
Cameron Jerome
Blues have received a timely boost ahead of their trip to Chelsea tomorrow with the return of Cameron Jerome from injury.

The striker missed Blues' 2-1 win over Everton at the weekend because of an ankle problem, which has now cleared up following rest and intensive treatment.

Jerome is currently Blues' second top scorer with five goals to his name this season - one behind Lee Bowyer.

Meanwhile Kevin Phillips is likely to be out for up to ten days with a groin problem, according to Blues boss Alex McLeish.

"Cameron Jerome is available again, but Kevin is still out," confirmed McLeish.

"He's got a groin problem which he's had for the past few weeks.

"It flared up on Friday after a challenge in a little practice match.

"It's a grade one tear which is the smallest kind of tear, but it shouldn't keep him out too long

""It's about a ten day thing and I don't think he needs any surgery on it."

David Murphy

Defensively David Murphy is edging closer to a return following his recovery from a shattered knee cap, which he sustained nine months ago.

Murphy took part in a behind-closed-doors game against Hereford United yesterday and completed 45 minutes before he was taken off.

"Murphy was blowing a little bit after 45 minutes and he felt his legs had just gone a bit jelly like," added McLeish.

"But it's good progress for him though because two months ago he was in despair."
