Alex McLeish has confirmed he met with the club's owners earlier this week regarding a new contract.

The former Scotland boss, who moved to St. Andrew's in November 2007, has just over a year left on his current deal.

This season has already seen the 51-year-old guide Blues to a 12-game unbeaten run - a club record in the top division.

He was also named as the Premier League Manager of the Month for December 2009, the first Birmingham boss to receive the accolade.

"We're starting negotiations," said McLeish speaking today.

"I met Carson (Yeung) and Peter (Pannu) on Monday and they gave me some initial figures.

"I'll now get my advisors to meet with them and let them thrash it out."
