Joe Hart - Birmingham City's 2009/10 Player of the Year and Junior Blues Player of the Season
Joe Hart's impressive season for Blues was capped off in style on Monday evening as the goalkeeper was named as Birmingham City's 2009/10 Player of the Year at the club's Gala Awards Dinner

More than 1,100 people attended the star-studded event at the ICC in Birmingham, making it the biggest and best Gala Dinner in the club's history.

The Blues board were there, as well as the management and players, and of course the supporters.

On-loan Manchester City stopper Hart received the top accolade as voted for by the club's supporters.

The 23-year-old joined Blues last summer on a season- long loan from City and was instrumental in helping Alex McLeish's side to their best top flight finish in more than half a century.

During his year at St. Andrew's Hart made a total of 41 appearances and kept no less than 12 clean sheets against some of the world's top strikers as Blues finished the season in an impressive ninth place.

He is also expected to be named in the England squad for the World Cup in South Africa next month.

Thousands of Blues fans voted and less than two per cent separated winner Hart, who collected just over 30 per cent of the vote, ahead of runner-up Barry Ferguson with just under 28 per cent of the vote.

Centre half Roger Johnson was in third place with an impressive 20 per cent.

Hart also found favour with the club's young supporters who voted him as their Junior Blues Player of the Season.

Amongst the players, Barry Ferguson's superb contribution to the team was recognised as the Scottish midfielder collected the Players' Player of the Season award.

Elsewhere Cameron Jerome picked up two trophies.

One was for ending the season as the Top Goal Scorer following his ten goal haul and the other was Goal of the Season for his wonderful strike against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw away at Anfield last November.

The Moment of the Season was for Blues making club history by going on a 15 game run in all competitions over a three month spell.

Away from the first team goalkeeper 17-year-old Jack Butland received the Young Player of the Season accolade.

He is an England under-17 goalkeeper and is regarded as one of the top young keepers in the country with a bright future ahead of him.

Of the other awards presented on the night, Shenley Sports Academy received the Community Award, Jan McDonald was the Supporter of the Season, The Fairclough Family were the Blues Family of the Year and Hollywood Signs collected the Commerce & Industry Award.
