Alex McLeish said it felt like "three points lost" after seeing his side held to a 2-2 draw by ten-man Bolton on Sunday.
Blues looked to be heading for their first away win of the season after going two goals up, before the stakes were levelled after two contentious refereeing decisions by match official Kevin Friend.
The first saw Bolton awarded a penalty and the second a free kick right on the edge of the area, which was converted by former Blues striker Robbie Blake.
"It feels like three points lost - almost like a defeat," said a disappointed McLeish after the game
"But in the grand schemes of things it could be a good point, but we're pretty sore and hurt today in the manner in which we lost the goals.
"The refereeing decisions that led to Bolton's goals were pretty generous and that is a polite way of putting it.
"If we are going to see penalties, hopefully they are consistent.
"The way that our guys get barged in the box hopefully we'll get a few penalties like that as well.
"The penalty I thought was extremely soft.

Seb Larsson |
"It's a man's game and English football is passionate, fast and intense so it's disappointing.
"Hopefully the referee will watch the game again - I'm sure he will because they tend to do that, as I will watch it to see what I did wrong today.
"It would be good if he watched it and then explained why there was a penalty and why there was a free kick, especially the one with Barry Ferguson.
"Cahill has risen above him and if anything he's clattered Barry along with Mark Davies.
"The two of them have sandwiched Barry and I would have thought it would be a free kick the other way.
"But we needed a third goal to put them away because they were always going to be dangerous with the route one way."
On the injury front there was some positive news regarding Seb Larsson.
The Swede had looked to have sustained a severe knee injury, but fortunately it doesn't appear to be as bad as Blues had initially feared.
"It's Larsson's knee but we don't think it's as bad we first thought," added McLeish
"We thought it may have been a dislocated knee cap something as severe as that, but it doesn't seem as bad as when he fell on the ground."
