Jean Beausejour |
Chilean midfielder Jean Beausejour is the latest player to put pen to paper on a move to Blues.
The 26-year-old has left Mexican side Club America and joined Alex McLeish's men on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Beausejour has been on McLeish's radar for some time but grabbed the attention of English football fans during the 2010 World Cup, most notably for a man-of-the-match display in Chile's narrow 2-1 defeat by Spain and for scoring the only goal in his international team's 1-0 win over Honduras.
And now he's all set to excite supporters at St. Andrew's.
Blues manager Alex McLeish told bcfc.com: "Beausejour is an excellent, left-sided midfielder who had a tremendous World Cup with Chile - he was their star player against Spain - and also played very well in a pre-season friendly against Manchester City recently.
"He has been on our list of targets for a long time because he is strong and quick with the ability to beat his man and get crosses in."
Beausejour, who has played 30 times for his country, began his career in Chile with Universidad Catolica before moving to Switzerland in 2004 to play for Servette following a loan spell with C. D. Universidad de Conception (Chile).
A year later he signed for Gremio in Brazil, for whom he made 55 appearances, before a spell with Belgian club Gent and then back home to Chile to play for Cobreloa (22 appearances) and then O'Higgins, for whom he scored 13 times in 34 games.
In 2009 Beausejour moved to Club America and he scored three times in 45 matches for them before his dream move to the Barclays Premier League.
