BLUES SIGN MCSHEFFREY

mcsheffreyBirmingham City Football Club and principal sponsors Flybe are delighted to announce the signing of Gary McSheffrey from Coventry City on a four year deal for a substantial fee.

Blue boss Steve Bruce has been pursuing the 24-year-old striker for several months and has had three previous bids for the player turned down prior to today's deal going through..

The former England under 20 international has an abundance of pace and excellent technical ability and can play on either the left of midfield or as an outright striker.

He finished the 2005/06 season as top scorer for Micky Adams' side with 17 goals from the left flank.

McSheffrey is a product of City's Academy and has spent his entire career with his hometown club, except for loan spells at Luton Town and Stockport County.

Since making his City debut as a 16-year-old, McSheffrey has made a total of 162 appearances and scored 53 goals for the Sky Blues.
