Midfielder Swedish Larsson says he is still hopeful of concluding a new deal with Blues.

The Swedish international's existing contract runs out this summer, although the club does have a one year option on the player.

"If I am honest there is not that much new to tell," Larsson told Fotbollskanalen.se

"We have come closer to each other, but where we end up is not that easy to tell.

"It is hard to say how long time things take.

"The coming year will be very important for my career, so you want everything to be right.

"But my contract ends this summer and we need to decide in time either to continue or to find another solution."

Asked if he wanted to remain with Birmingham, Larsson told Fotbollskanalen.se: "Yes, and it's like I've always said, I like it at the club.

"And even if it might sound strange at the moment, I get to play on a regular basis.

"But you need to know that this will continue, and that you get to play."
