Jake Jervis began his footballing career as a schoolboy at Wolves before moving to Shrewsbury Town where he spent three years between the ages of 12 and 15.
Blues paid a fee to the Shrews to acquire the 6ft 3in striker's services after spotting him playing in a county game for Shropshire against the West Midlands.
After working his way through Blues' youth and reserve sides, he made his first team debut in January 2010 as a second half substitute in the club's FA Cup fourth round win against Everton at Goodison Park.
In March of that year he joined Hereford United on a month-long loan deal and scored 11 minutes into his debut for the Bulls in their 2-0 win against Bradford City. He returned to St. Andrew's at the end of his loan spell having scored twice in seven appearances.
Jervis was on the move again at the start of the 2010/11 season when he joined newly-promoted Notts County in League One. During his loan spell at Meadow Lane he made ten appearances, although the majority of them were from the substitutes' bench, but he failed to get on the scoresheet.
In January 2011, the Wolverhampton-born youngster returned to Hereford for a second spell.
Then in September 2011 he began his fourth spell away from club when he linked-up with Paolo Di Canio's Swindon Town on a one-month emergency loan. This was later extended until December 30. During his time with Robins, Jervis made 14 appearances and scored five goals in all competitions
On 1 January 2012, the forward was on the move again as he joined League One side Preston North End on a 28-day youth loan.
During his month long stay with the Lillywhites he notched two goals.
