Blues are delighted to announce an exciting addition to the club this January transfer window - Macmillan Cancer Support.
An 18-month deal running until 2011 - Macmillan's centenary year - has been agreed.
Saturday's prestige home game against Premier League champions Manchester United (kick-off 5.30pm) is the perfect occasion to highlight Blues' support for the charity.
Macmillan Chief Executive Ciaran Devane and ambassador Patrick McGowan, a cancer survivor who hails from Shirley, will be special guests at the game and address supporters from pitch-side pre-match.
Nearly 50 Macmillan volunteers will collect valuable funds with a bucket collection in and around St. Andrew's stadium, where posters and advertising boards will also profile the link-up.
Supporters will also be able to literally get their hands on special limited edition wristbands, seen here being worn by Blues stars Liam Ridgewell and Cameron Jerome, featuring the slogan 'Blues and Macmillan Cancer Support - Helping To Change Lives Together'.
They will be available from the Blues Superstore and in the corporate areas priced just £2.50, with all proceeds (after production costs) going to Macmillan.
Steve Dourass, Area Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, says: "Almost everyone has been affected by cancer, either through family, friends and colleagues. Two million are living with and beyond cancer in the UK currently and the fact that one in three of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime means that we can all make a difference.
"The new owners of Birmingham City FC are very much community-minded people and by working together in our communities along with all of the supporters we can help change lives together.
"This partnership, moving into our Centenary year of 2011, will do just that and I would like to thank everyone involved with Birmingham City for supporting Macmillan, and raising money that will provide the many medical, practical, financial and emotional services for cancer patients and their families."
Blues are committed to helping Macmillan through a series of initiatives over the coming months, more details of which will follow in due course.
