Left-back David Murphy joined Blues from Scottish Premier League side Hibernian in January 2008 for a fee of £1.5m

The Hartlepool-born player began his career with Middlesbrough before leaving the Riverside having played just 13 games to join Hibs in 2004.

Murphy missed the end of the 2008/09 season and much of the 2009/10 campaign after breaking his knee cap against Watford in April 2009.

However, he made a full recovery and had an impressive 2011/12 campaign, during which he made a total of 47 appearances and scored seven goals.

He signed a new two-year-deal in May 2012 that will keep him at St. Andrew's until 2014.

Murphy started the 2012/13 campaign in good form but suffered a knee injury in November 2012, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
