A product of Blues’ Academy, goalkeeper Nick Townsend signed for Blues at the age of 12.

A former pupil of Alderbrook School in Solihull, Townsend used to be a season ticket holder as a youngster along with his father.

The teenager has been a regular for the club's under-18 and under-21 sides and was on the substitutes' bench for the first-team's FA Cup with Budweiser replay against Leeds United in January, but has yet to make his senior bow. He is currently third-choice stopper behind Jack Butland and Colin Doyle.

At the end of March 2013 Townsend joined non-league Oxford City on a youth loan deal. The 18-year-old will link up with the Blue Square Bet North outfit until April 28.
