This was later extended until the end of the 2012/13 season.
A former England Under-21 international, he began his career at his hometown club Watford before moving to West Bromwich Albion in 2003 and spending six years at the Hawthorns.
A season-long loan move to Bolton Wanderers was made permanent in 2010. His spell at the Reebok Stadium was briefly interrupted by a month-long spell at Leeds United in 2011/12 season.
Ahead of the 2013/14 campaign he was given the role of both club and team captain.
His performances during the 2013/14 season saw Robinson rewarded with the Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season accolades at the end of season awards dinner.
In the summer of 2015 Robinson signed a new one-year deal and and he went on to make 32 appearances (with five of them coming off the substitutes' bench) during the 2015/16 season.
In May 2016 he signed a new one-year contract with the Club.
The agreement sees Robinson take on a player-coach role at St. Andrew's, where he will also help develop Gary Rowett's Under-21s on the training fields at Wast Hills and the Under-18s.
