Defender Ryan Shotton joined Blues in June 2016 from Derby County for an undisclosed fee, following a successful loan spell at St. Andrew's during the 2015/16 campaign.
Shotton, who penned a three-year deal, originally joined in January, making nine appearances and scoring one goal.
Shotton, who stands 6 feet two inches tall, made two appearances at right back, before partnering Michael Morrison in the heart of the defence for the final six games.
He began his professional career at his local side Stoke City, where he turned professional in 2007.
During his time with the Potters he had loan spells with Altrincham, Tranmere Rovers, Barnsley, Wigan Athletic and Derby County with the latter turning permanent in 2015.
