Manager Marta Tejedor was pleased with her side’s performance following a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Abbi Grant had given Blues the lead with a flicked header, but her goal was cancelled out late in the game by Kit Graham.

Tejedor was impressed with the performance by Blues and felt they had good opportunities to win the game but knows improvements must still be made.

“If we would have scored those goals, we would have been 2-0 and probably wouldn’t have drawn,” said Tejedor.

“Today I got the effort and hard work, but we made some mistakes, there are improvements to make and hopefully we will keep getting better and better.

Blues had goalkeeper Hannah Hampton to thank for the score remaining level and Tejedor believes the England Under-21 international is always consistent.

She said: “She was good, the same as every day. I like it a lot. She really saved us from a couple of good chances they had.”

Another positive from the game was the performance on academy prospect Lily Simkin, making only her second senior start at 16-years-old.

“We were really happy with her, she’s so young, but you see her on the pitch, and she looks really mature on the pitch,” said Tejedor.

“I am really glad about her performance; she is doing such a good job.”

Next up for Blues is a trip to winless Bristol City on Sunday and Tejedor is not underestimating Tanya Oxtoby’s side.

She said: “They will be thinking that they can take points from us, and we will prepare it as seriously as we always do, with all the respect for them.

“We want to bring some points back from Bristol City, but they will be thinking the same as us.”
