Reaction: Blues Women 2 Liverpool Women 0 (1)
Manager Marta Tejedor says Blues "expect to get better and better” after landing a first Barclays FA Women’s Super League victory of the season.
Kerys Harrop and Lucy Staniforth got the goals to cap a dominant display in a 2-0 triumph over Liverpool.
It means Blues leapfrog the Reds at the foot of the table and Tejedor's eyes are now firmly fixed on moving onwards and upwards.
“It was a well-deserved victory and something we really needed,” said Tejedor.
“We did things pretty well, if you don’t win a match when you play as we did it would be hard to believe and keep working. From here we expect to get better and better.
“My first belief is that we played well in some of the other games, not at Man City but the ones before that.
“We did not deserve to be bottom of the table, we believe we have a better team than what we have shown until now but I would also link it to the way we trained this week.
“There was some really high intensity and we got much closer to what happens on a match day, that made it quite easy to transfer what we did into the game.”
Tejedor reserved special praise for the home crowd with more than 1,000 people attending the match at Solihull Moors.
“We are very happy and I would like to say thank you to the supporters, they were so important for us,” she added.
“At different points in the match I heard how they backed the team and that is what we want to create, a link where they are proud of us like we are proud of them.”
