REACTION: Brighton Women 2 Blues Women 1
Marta Tejedor suffered her second defeat at the helm, as Birmingham City fell to a 2-1 loss against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Striker Ellen White’s second goal of the campaign gave Blues the lead, however they were pegged back by Kayleigh Green’s header. Former Blues forward Ellie Brazil notched the winning goal, as Brighton claimed the three points.
Tejedor reflected on the loss to Brighton, noting that her team put up a good fight against an organised side.
She said: “I don’t think it was a bad performance. We had control of the match and the ball. We tried to pick the ball up and move faster, especially in the second half.
“We did create several goal scoring opportunities, where we should have scored two or three of them.
“Again we conceded a goal from a set piece, which we’re working on. We are conceded about this and in fact, we worked on that yesterday in training.”
Despite defeat, Blues remain in fourth on 28 points and they enter the final stages of this season.
Blues now embark on a six week break before hosting Arsenal Women at Solihull Moors, as a host of players head out on international break.
Lucy Staniforth and White will be heading to America as they play in the SheBelieves Cup, and Hayley Ladd will be away with Wales.
