Report: Blues Women 0 Everton 4
Blues Women fell to a 4-0 defeat against Everton in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Thursday night.
Goals from Jill Scott, Alisha Lehmann, Claire Emslie and Simone Magill gave the Merseyside club all three points.
Blues started the game brightly, pressing Everton high up the pitch and forcing them to play backwards on a number of occasions.
There was a lengthy delay in the game after Sandy MacIver clattered into Claudia Walker outside the area. The ‘keeper was forced off with an injury and was perhaps lucky to only receive a yellow card for the challenge.
Everton took the lead as the game edged towards the interval. Hayley Raso paced down the right and cut the ball back to Jill Scott who swept home from inside the area.
Jamie-Lee Napier came inches away from finding an equaliser. Walker was again involved, playing the ball through to the Scot who took aim towards the top corner, but it drifted narrowly wide.
The visitors doubled their lead on the stroke of half time. Claire Emslie worked space on the right and floated a ball to the back post. Alisha Lehmann got ahead of her marker and powered a header in.

Everton came out of the blocks firing after the interval. Emslie capitalised on a misplaced pass and chipped the ball over Hannah Hampton from distance for The Toffees third.
Blues had a half-chance midway through the second period. Christie Murray worked an opening from the edge of the area but her left-footed shot was sliced wide.
The visitors continued to see plenty of the ball as the game went on, restricting Blues to limited opportunities when they had the chance to attack.
They managed to grab a fourth late on through Northern Ireland international Simone Magill. The ball bounced off her and she turned and volleyed over Hampton and into the top corner.
