Blues Training Ground surprise for Ethan
Brave Bluenose Ethan Beech, who has suffered from kidney failure since birth, saw his dream become a reality when he was treated to a day with his Birmingham City heroes.
The 14-year-old recently underwent a transplant when his dad and fellow Blues fan, Richard, donated his own kidney. We picked up the pair for a surprise visit to Wast Hills Training Ground.
Ethan was left in awe as he got to watch training, was taken on an access-all-areas tour and received a signed shirt from his favourite player, Troy Deeney. He was also invited to be a VIP mascot for the final game of the season.
Speaking to BCFC.com about the day, the Club Captain said: “It was special for all the boys to hear about Ethan’s story.
“For a young man to have to go through what he’s been through puts everything into perspective in terms of life and how valuable it is.”
Ethan, who described it as “the best day of my life”, is celebrating the removal of his gastrostomy tube after having special feeding requirements since he was born. He continues to receive treatment twice a week at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Keep Right On, Ethan!
