Alex Jones makes Mariners loan move

The loan runs until 12 December 2015 inclusive and will enable Jones to gain valuable first team experience as part of his ongoing development.

There can be no recall during the first month of the loan as per League regulations and Jones has been given permission to play for Grimsby in both The FA Cup and The FA Trophy.

Grimsby are still in this season's FA Cup, where they face Shrewsbury Town in the second round of the competition.

The 21-year-old ex-West Bromwich Albion striker Jones joined Blues in May on a two-year deal.

He has been a regular with the Club's Under-21 squad but has yet to make his Blues First Team bow.

Grimsby, who are managed by Paul Hurst, are currently ninth in the National League – non-league’s top tier - just two points off the play-off places.
