Will Packwood to make MLS switch

The 21-year-old defender's existing Blues deal had been due to run until June 30, 2015.

However, Packwood requested that his contract be cancelled early in order that he can attend a trial period with the MLS team and potentially join them before their window closes on 12 May.

Packwood, who is an American U23 international, has an English father and an American mother and grew up in the US before joining the Blues Academy in 2007 as a 14-year-old.

Since making his debut in March 2012, he has gone on to make 21 first team appearances for the Club.

His Blues career was somewhat curtailed by a serious leg break in January 2013, which kept him sidelined for several months.

During his time at St. Andrew's, he also spent three spells out on loan at Bristol Rovers, Colchester United and Cheltenham Town.

Birmingham City FC wishes Will every success in his future career.
