Doing the business

Gary Rowett made it his intention to strengthen Blues attacking areas and also add some extra defensive cover.

Diego Fabbrini was brought in as the Club's biggest signing in five years, representing a major coup.

And the deal that secured Ryan Shotton on loan from Derby County concluded Rowett's work in the market.

James Vaughan's loan was extended to the season's end, when he will then sign a permanent contract.

Will Buckley's initial month loan was extended, too, until the campaign's close.

Blues also had an eye on the future with the capture of the promising Luke Maxwell from Kidderminster Harriers, who was loaned back to the National League side.

And, don't forget, Blues tied Viv Solomon-Otabor to a new contract.

Blues reacted swiftly and with purpose after Leicester City met the buyout clause in Demarai Gray's contract and he indicated that he wanted a transfer.

Rowett used the resources at his disposal and juggled shrewdly the incoming needs against allowing players out; the likes of Andrew Shinnie and Wes Thomas were loaned, whilst Shane Lowry was released by mutual consent.

And another bright spot of Blues during January was the announcement that Rowett and his backroom team had agreed new contracts, showing their commitment to the Club and vice versa.
