The Blues manager has already stated that he would like to secure James Vaughan for a longer period from Huddersfield Town, if not on a permanent basis.
But Greg Halford has returned to his club Rotherham United after Rowett decided not to take things any further after his loan, like Vaughan's, expired on Saturday.
Mark Duffy, from Burton Albion, and Mitch Hancox, from Crawley Town, are due back at Wast Hills on Monday after their loan periods ended.
Wes Thomas' loan to Swindon Town finishes at midnight Monday.
Lee Novak (to Chesterfield) and Denny Johnstone (to Greenock Morton) are both on season loans but there are January recall options, should Rowett wish to implement them.
David Edgar remains at Sheffield United for the remainder of the campaign; likewise Jon Toral is with Blues until May, from Arsenal.
Said Rowett: "Crawley have initially asked if they can extend Mitch's deal. I will have to see what the situation is.
"We still need to get different types of players in and some of those players who have come back might end up going back out on loan again.
"But we welcome them back with open arms. If they work hard for me I will treat them the same as everyone else."
