Blues head to Austria in pre-season

Blues are returning to Austria to prepare for 2017/18.

Harry Redknapp and his squad will stay in the small spa town of Stegersbach between 9 – 16 July.

Blues are to play two friendlies – opponents and further details to be confirmed – with the main game on the Saturday before departure.

In the south east of the country – in Southern Burgenland, the nearest city Graz – the region is renowned as a so-called ‘wellness’ destination.

Leicester City went to Stegersbach last July for pre-season training.

Blues have been to Austria three times previously.

In 2008, Alex McLeish’s squad stayed in Westendorf, returning to the same Tyrol venue a year later (pictured).

Lee Clark’s Blues went on pre-season to Bad Häring, Tyrol, in 2012, drawing 2-2 in a friendly against Borussia Mönchengladbach in Munich before their return.

For the past two years Blues have undergone a closed training camp in Marbella, Spain.

On their return from Austria, Blues continue their schedule of First Team friendlies at Oxford United (22 July), Kidderminster Harriers (26 July) and at home to Swansea City (29 July).

After reporting back for testing at the end of June, the squad will train at Wast Hills for a week before flying out to Austria.
