Blues have been handed a home tie against Bournemouth in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

The tie will be played at St. Andrew's in the week commencing 21 August.

After cruising past League Two's Crawley Town in the opening fixture of the competition, Harry Redknapp's men will now face Premier League opposition in the form of Eddie Howe's Cherries.

Blues, who won the competition back in 2011, were named in the South Non-seeded pot for the draw which took place on Thursday evening.

The two sides met in the FA Cup in the 2015/16 season with the south coast outfit progressing thanks to a 2-1 victory at St.Andrew's.

Michael Morrison put Blues ahead five minutes before half time but a Lee Tomlin penalty and a late Glenn Murray strike saw off the hosts.

Blues and Bournemouth also clashed over two legs in the League Cup back in 1990 when the Cherries again ran out 2-1 winners on aggregate.

Ticket details will be announced in due course.
