Steve Cotterill has confirmed that three key players are back in training ahead of Blues' home fixture against Cardiff City on Friday evening.

Record signing Jota, striker Che Adams and midfielder Jason Lowe have all returned to the training pitches after overcoming their respective hamstring injuries.

Although they are available for the matchday squad, Cotterill was unable to confirm if they would start because of the limited training they have been able to undertake since their return.

That just leaves goalkeeper David Stockdale (arm) and full-back Carl Jenkinson (shoulder) sidelined.

"The injured players are a lot better now all of them," said Cotterill.

"They're all on their way back strongly.

“We've just got to make sure there's been enough training in them.

"Jota, Lowe and Adams are all available for the matchday squad."

Meanwhile, Cheikh Ndoye has returned unscathed from international duty.

The midfielder came off the substitutes' bench to score a stoppage time goal for Senegal in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde on Saturday.

Full-back Emilio Nsue was also away with his Equatorial Guinea side, where he scored twice in their friendly win against Mauritius on Monday evening.

"Emilio Nsue isn't back in until tomorrow which is obviously a bit of an issue," added Cotterill.

"Cheikh's been with us for two days because his game was earlier in the week.

"He scored a great goal as well, I'm pleased for him."
