Caretaker Manager Lee Carsley was straight into the thick of things at Wast Hills today.

After a short meeting addressing the squad, Carsley got to work on the training pitches beginning preparations for Blues' next match.

And he has enlisted help from within and outside the Club to bolster his staff.

Club Captain Paul Robinson will assist Carsley as Coach as will Paul Williams, who started in a Coach role today.

Former Coventry City and Derby County defender Williams worked alongside Carsley when he took charge of Brentford in September 2015.

Paul Groves remains as Coach and Kevin Hitchcock is also staying at Blues, as Goalkeeper Coach.

Assistant Manager Kevin Bond departed Blues in the wake of Harry Redknapp's dismissal as Manager on Saturday evening.

Blues travel to Derby County - one of Carsley's former clubs - on Saturday seeking to break a sequence of six consecutive defeats in league and cup.

Williams chalked up 395 league appearances during a playing career that also saw him turn out for Southampton and Stoke City.

His playing days finished with a short spell in the United States with Richmond Kickers and he cut his teeth in management with Fredericksburg Academy.

He then returned to the UK where he had coaching roles at Wolves, Aldershot, Southampton, Eastleigh, Gosport, as well as working alongside Carsley at Brentford.

In 2015, he took on a role with England with the Under-15s and Under-16s sides and later assisted Aidy Boothroyd with the Under-20s national team.

Most recently he was at Nottingham Forest where he had a short spell as Caretaker Manager, before joining Swansea City as Assistant Manager.
