Maikel Kieftenbeld red card appeal successful

Maikel Kieftenbeld is sent-off.

Maikel Kieftenbeld will now not serve a three-game suspension

Blues midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld's sending-off has been rescinded.

Blues appeal for wrongful dismissal in the Bristol City match was upheld by an Independent Regulatory Commission.

It means the automatic three-game ban he received for serious foul play has been overturned.

He will now be free to play in Tuesday's fixture against Bolton Wanderers at St. Andrew's.

Kieftenbeld was dismissed in the 80th minute of Blues 2-1 success for a tackle on Callum O'Dowda.

Referee Darren Bond reached immediately for his red card and brandished it.

Kieftenbeld was adamant at the time it was not a reckless challenge and manager Harry Redknapp backed him post-game.

Blues launched an appeal with the aid of video evidence and learned of the outcome from the Football Association this evening.
