Mixed results for Ronan Hale with Ireland

The 18-year-old was not involved in the Republic's opening fixture which they lost 2-1 to Norway.

But the Blues youngster certainly made his mark in their second game by scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win against Portugal.

Hale, who played the full match, netted the decisive 69th minute goal with a superb solo effort after cutting in from the left wing and curling a shot into the far corner of the net.

Ireland's third and final game in Spain was against Slovakia.

Hale was introduced from the substitutes' bench at the start of the second-half, but was unable to prevent his side from suffering a 3-1 defeat.

Blues teammate Corey O'Keeffe had also been due to travel to the tournament, but dropped out after being required for First Team duties with Blues.
Ireland's focus now turns to their UEFA Elite Qualifying Round of fixtures next month when they take on Sweden, Italy and Belgium, who will host the mini-tournament.
