Blues Ladies duo Meaghan Sargeant and Freda Ayisi were guests of honour at the EFL Girls Cup, hosted by BCFC Community Trust on Wednesday.

Sargeant and Ayisi were on hand to meet and watch U13 girls teams from Ark St Albans, Bishop Challoner, City Academy and Shenley Academy. The pair also gave away tickets for Blues Ladies' forthcoming home match against Bristol City Women.

Wast Hills was the venue for the round-robin format tournament, with the winning team going on to represent Blues in the regional finals next week.

Following an afternoon of competitive action with plenty endeavor from all sides, Bishop Challenor ran out worthy winners, with Shenley Academy runners-up.

“It’s good to come down and see all the girls getting involved,” said Sargeant.

“There are a lot of girls here which is always a good thing for us. Women’s and girls football has grown a lot. I’ve spoken to all the girls here and they’ve all said they are enjoying it.

“There are a lot of talented girls here and there have been a few that have caught my eye. All of them are talented in their own different way but you do always see the ones that stand out.”
