Garry Monk has revealed that influential midfielder David Davis has stepped up his rehabilitation.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined since sustaining a major ankle injury in pre-season.

But Monk is now hopeful that Davis could return to some form of training as early as next month.

"It's gone to plan for David at this moment in time," said the Blues boss.

"It will probably be the end of January when he could possibly return into some of the training.

"He's in the most critical moment now he's back out on the grass.

"This is where you go from the controlled environment inside to a little bit more variable in terms of movements and things like that. And if there are going to be any reactions come, that's when it will be.

"But he's done fantastically up to this point."

Meanwhile, striker Isaac Vassell (hip) continues to make good progress.

"Isaac is back in training now but still needs more time to be at a level that he's more competitive," said Monk.

"He's not near to playing Under-23s games yet.

"Jota has been back out training this week and he'll be ready and available for selection on Saturday.

"So, we're in very good shape fitness-wise."
