We are all delighted for him, all the players, staff, Club and I am sure all the fans are as well. He has been fantastic in this period of games.

Garry Monk

Garry Monk says he is delighted that Lukas Jutkiewicz has been recognised for his fine performances after being named as the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for October.

The popular front man was on fire last month, scoring no less than five goals; including his first career hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Rotherham United, as Blues picked up 13 league points from the 15 available.

"His contribution since I have come in has been immense," said Monk.

"People will talk about the goals and will say outwardly ‘He’s scored that many goals, of course he should be in contention or be able to win these types of awards’.

"But it’s been his all-round contribution. People who have watched him play, his whole game right now, as well as the goals, has been phenomenal.

"He deserves it 100 per cent. His fight is to continue that.

"We are all delighted for him, all the players, staff, Club and I am sure all the fans are as well. He has been fantastic in this period of games."

For those that know the 28-year-old Jutkiewicz on a personal level, his on and off the pitch personas are very different.

"He is not the loudest, he is not a shouter or that type but he is intelligent and when he speaks he speaks well and you can see players listen to him," continued Monk.

"He is that type in the changing on match days, in and around training, because he is thoughtful and has got experience players listen to him.

"He is a really good influence in the changing room.

"Then by example the way he tries to lead on the pitch, he is a fantastic professional."

Jutkiewicz has already netted nine goals so far this season and Monk is confident that he will continue to be a key player for the remainder of the season.

"Who knows how far he can go and how many goals he can get," concluded Monk.

"The main part is understanding why he is where he is at the moment.

"The reason why is because of his all-round contribution. It’s not just the goals.

"I say it to all the players, if it’s keeping clean sheets, wingers attacking, midfielders doing both jobs or strikers scoring goals.

"The only way you are going to get that opportunity is your all round contribution - doing your work for the team first.

"No-one has embraced that more than Jukey and he has ended up getting his rewards.

"You can see an unselfishness in him, yes you want goals as a striker but if you are just thinking solely about yourself ‘I want to score goals, or do this’ you can neglect a lot of other things.

"He has been very focused on what the team needs first, the best consequence of that is you are then in positions to score goals.

"When you do that the margins seems to go for you, when you are not they go against you.

"He is intelligent, he totally understands that and I am sure you won’t see a difference in what he gives to the team."
