And the England Under-20 winger says Blues supporters can expect him to 'attack my full-back at every opportunity'.
The youngster penned a season-long loan deal from Premier league side Bournemouth on Tuesday and is raring to show what he can do.
Mahoney is already a familiar face to one of the senior coaching staff, having worked under James Beattie during his time in charge at Accrington Stanley, when Beattie gave him his debut as a 16-year-old.
"The manager and coaching staff were a big part of why I came heer," he said.
"They said what they expect from me before I came here, and it was everything I wanted to hear so that was why I made the decision.
"James Beattie knows what I'm capable of and he knows what to expect from me so that gives me a bit of a boost and it's made it a little bit easier coming into the environment knowing him."
"I hope to get as many minutes as I can and try and break into the team straightaway," he continued.
"My personal target is then to score as many goals as I can and create as many goals as I can and see where I end up at the end of the season.
"I'm a young exciting winger who when I get the ball I want to attack my full-back at every opportunity.
"If I've got to play back I will, but I'll be looking to get shots and crosses in and just get the fans off their seats.
"It's a big challenge at a big club and I know all the expectations that come with that, but I've played in the Championship before and I'm ready for the task ahead.
"For me to be playing on a stage like this I'm very excited."
