The Blues manager left Ashton Gate rueing a number of missed chances as his charges fell to their first defeat in four matches.
Lukas Jutkiewicz continued his rich vein of form, netting three in as many games, but goals from Marlon Pack, Bobby Reid and Matty Taylor condemned Blues to their first loss at Ashton Gate since 1993.
Garry Monk reflects on the missed goal opportunities…
“We had more than enough chances to score the goals and get a result here and that is the disappointing thing. It’s an opportunity missed for us.
“Like on Saturday you have to take your chances at any level and especially in the situation we are in.
“We are lucky in the sense that the other results have gone our way and we are in the same position we were in before the game albeit with a game less.”
Garry Monk on the need to be clinical in front of goal…
“Credit to Bristol they were very clinical and they are a good side. They are playing for their reasons and we are playing for ours. It was always going to be a difficult game and we more than created enough chances to warrant some points from this game. And that is why it feels like an opportunity missed.”
Garry Monk reflects on the positives that chances are being created…
“When we first came in one of the issues was that we weren’t creating enough chances to win games and I think we have addressed that. There is a lot of things that we do right and you can see the players are taking things on board and taking it out onto the pitch. Of course goals win games. In the last few games we have created enough chances to score five or six goals. We have to do that in the next four games.
Garry Monk on handing Beryly Lubala a debut…
“We are very limited on the options we have to change and affect games. Bez has worked very hard with me since we’ve come in. He got his opportunity and I thought he did very well. He looked a threat and looked bright.”
Garry Monk on Wolves and the remaining matches…
“They are all big games and we are focused on our reasons and not anyone else. We need to continue how we have been doing. I have seen a progression and seen what we are capable of.
“We always knew it was a difficult situation we were coming into. I think we have done well with it. I have got trust in the players and we are fighting. We are clearly good enough and we have shown that. We need to do whatever it takes to get the points we need.”
