Reaction: Sheffield Wednesday 1 Blues 3

They’ve worked extremely hard on the training ground and we’re back on it tomorrow.

Steve Cotterill analysed Blues' ruthless win at Hillsborough.

Steve Cotterill was asked where Blues' form has come from...

"Probably the training ground, to be fair. It takes a while for all that work on the training ground to bear fruit. We deservedly got our noses in front and we were worthy of our three goals at half-time. Maybe a goal or two more if I’m brutally honest."

Steve Cotterill on his side's professionalism in the second-half...

"We’ve been pretty good of late and in the second-half, for about 15 minutes, we didn’t know what to expect. We haven’t been 3-0 up very often. I definitely think it’s natural, and we would have played in enough situations where you step off the gas a little bit. We don’t need to take any chances and we’ve got another game on Tuesday so we don’t need to be running around the place. It would have been nice to go for the jugular, however players have quite a lot of respect for each other these days and they don’t need to turn the screw, because sometimes the shoe can be on the other foot. We’ve also got a small game at the end of the week against Aston Villa so I think that lads were conserving a little bit of energy at the end there and I can’t say I blame them. We’ve had a good run of games since Christmas."

Steve Cotterill on Blues' excellent front three...

"It’s like the penny has dropped with Jeremie (Boga). Jeremie, Gally (Sam Gallagher) and Jota today were very good. I’m really pleased for Jota, he’s a good professional, he’s a nice lad and hopefully those two goals will do him the world of good. Jacques Maghoma, who has obviously been playing, missed out today and he’s been excellent as well. Jacques been excellent and definitely a mention for him with the run we’ve been on his form has been first-class. They’ve worked extremely hard on the training ground and we’re back on it tomorrow."

Steve Cotterill on Jonathan Grounds' injury...

"Medial ligament, but we don’t quite know how bad it is so that one we’re really disappointed with. It wouldn’t have been something we’d have wanted in today’s game as Jonathan has been an excellent performer for us."

Steve Cotterill was asked about the Second City derby next Sunday...

"We’ve got a game against Huddersfield Town before that and we know what that can bring us. That can bring us a game against Manchester United and I’m pretty sure the lads would like a game against Man United if possible so we’ll make the changes again and shuffle the pack around."
