Pep Clotet says that Blues will need to be on their mettle to snuff out the threat of Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic in Saturday's Championship fixture at the St. Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium.

The 25-year-old Serbian international, who was signed by The Cottagers from Newcastle for £13.5m in July 2018, currently leads the Championship's scoring charts with an impressive 11-goals.

And Clotet says it will be up to his Blues players to act collectively in order to try and stop him adding to that tally.

"He's (Mitrovic) a big threat," admitted the Blues boss.

"The fact of having a player in your team, that you know is going to score more than 20 goals a season makes everything easier.

"That includes the defenders because they know if they make a mistake or something, they will always have a chance because of him, as well the other players going forward.

"Of course, Fulham were in the Premier League last season, but they're now in the same league as us and the numbers are similar in performance (points).

"When it comes to the game, we will try to shorten that distance on the pitch as much as possible.

"The fact that they have a very good striker obviously gives them a little bit of an edge, because good strikers always have the ability to create chances.

"So, we have to be mindful of affecting his supply, and how he is and be very focused on the day.

"For me the way to combat him is being very good collectively."
