FIFA Women's World Cup 2019 Round Up

In the battle of Britain, England Women came out on top beating Scotland 2-1 in the two countries’ opening game of the 2019 Women’s World Cup.

First-half goals from Nikita Parris and Ellen White secured all three points for the Lionesses, despite a late Claire Emslie strike.

But for Birmingham City Women’s Chloe Arthur, it was a memorable moment for the 24-year-old.

The midfielder replaced Sophie Howard in the 74th minute to make her World Cup bow.

Her middle counterpart Lucy Staniforth was named on the bench for England and watched the Lionesses win from the sidelines but will hoping to be involved in the coming games.

On Friday the two teams face different opposition in Group D, as Scotland take on Japan and England face Argentina.
