Birmingham City Women goalkeeper Hannah Hampton will be competing in the 2019 UEFA Under-19s Women’s European Championships in Scotland.

The 18-year-old has been selected as one of two goalkeepers, including Manchester United’s Emily Ramsey, by England Under-19s Head Coach Rehanne Skinner.

England will face Germany, holders Spain and Belgium in their group games.

The tournament comprises of eight teams in two groups of four, with the top two progressing to the semi-finals.

The young goalkeeper has come a long way in the space of 12 months. Having signed her first professional contract for the Club, she was thrust in the number one jersey following the departure of Ann-Katrin Berger in December last year.

Her aims were to “establish myself as a number one ‘keeper in the Women’s Super League and progress through the England age groups.”

Manager Marta Tejedor has been impressed with the young ‘keeper since her arrival at the helm in January.

She said: “I have been very impressed with her. She has been brilliant since I have been at the Club and I’m incredibly proud.

“Hannah has played really well for Blues but also while she has been away with England, so we knew she would get the call up.”

Hampton played her part in England qualification campaign, which concluded in April, as she recorded two clean sheets in two appearances against Sweden and Italy.

She was on hand to keep out the Swedish attack in their 4-0 win and was awarded Player of the Match during a 2-0 victory over Italy.

Now, she’ll be hoping to do the same this summer.
