Michael Morrison gave life-long Bluenose Les Whittaker the surprise of his life on Wednesday afternoon.

The Blues captain paid a visit to Les’ care home in Weoley Castle, where he has been since suffering a stroke, and presented the 74-year-old with hospitality tickets for Saturday’s match against Middlesbrough.

Les, a Tilton End season ticket holder, first started watching Blues in the 1950s and was certainly shocked by Michael’s appearance. The clash with the Teessiders will be Les’ first match in over two years following his ill health.

“Campy and Mags came in September and we have come back, Les said his last game was Ipswich a few years back so it’s good to give him the opportunity to come again. Obviously it’s been difficult for him with his stroke,” said Michael.

“He was shocked that he is going to get the opportunity to go again and be looked after by the football club."
