Preview: Blues v Nottingham Forest

We also want to make sure we can build on Tuesday and try and put a run together gathering points in consecutive games.

Garry Monk.

Our full match preview ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship fixture against Forest at the St. Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium (3pm kick-off).

Garry Monk asked if he needed to pick any of his players up after the disappointment of conceding an equalising goal with seconds to go at Swansea...
"Of course straight after the final whistle has blown and you are in the changing room for ten minutes or so, it feels like a blow and a disappointment. But you soon realise in those situations, the next day or so, just how well they did do playing with ten men against a good side like that. To even put themselves in a position of having three points with 20 seconds to go is testament to how well they performed in that second-half in difficult circumstances. I was very pleased with them. Yes, we know we should have taken the three points, but I think a point from the overall game was probably a fair result."

Garry Monk on what he is expecting from Nottingham Forest...
"Right from the summer, up to now with the players they have signed in this window as well, it’s a squad that has been built for promotion. That’s their intention, that’s what they have to try and achieve. It’s one of those games again where we are going to have to pit our wits against that type of squad and quality. We have done that pretty well overall with similar teams that have been built for promotion. We also want to make sure we can build on Tuesday and try and put a run together gathering points in consecutive games."

Garry Monk asked how much he was looking forward to being back at St Andrew’s...
"Yes for sure, especially against similar teams we have faced before where they are chasing promotion and we have given a good account of ourselves. We are looking to get that atmosphere, back on that front foot and try and get ourselves the win we want."

Garry Monk asked if Kristian Pedersen being suspended opened the door for another player...
"We have adapted already this season to those type of situations. Kristian unfortunately for us misses the game. We will adapt and prepare as we do and whoever steps on to that pitch will give everything they have got with the clarity we need from them."

Garry Monk's thoughts on a manager of Martin O'Neill's quality taking charge of Forest in the Championship...
"His career speaks for itself and it’s great for the Championship. Year upon year player and management and coaching-wise they are attracting good managers. There have been big names already in the Championship, it has been great to pit my wits against those type of managers. Martin’s career speaks for itself. We all know about his affection and relationship with Nottingham Forest. That squad has been built for promotion in the summer and in January - and he will know that. We have been fighting a different fight from that, we are not on their level in terms of their quality and investment. But you have seen from those type of games in the past we have tried to approach it with a real appetite to prove we can compete against those types of teams."

Blues team news...
Kristian Pedersen is forced to miss the game after being suspended for one match following his sending off at Swansea on Tuesday evening. Marc Roberts (calf) and Charlie Lakin (thigh) are unavailable.
