REACTION: Derby County 3 Blues 2

I saw a side that never gave up today, we went for it. We created a lot of chances, some of them clear, unfortunately we didn’t score more and I think they were fortunate on two goals.

Pep Clotet speaks to the media after today's defeat at Pride Park...

Pep Clotet on his side's display...

"Since the pre-season we have been a team that one of our characteristics is that if we make a mistake, we see it, we correct and then go forward.Last Saturday at home we deserved a little bit more than the result we got, but we saw we could get better at pressing on the front-foot mentality, on attacking the box, on creating chances and attempts. The whole squad worked very hard on it this week and we put that on the pitch today. I think the team has had a really good progression since we started, sometimes you get points, sometimes you don’t get points because that’s something that comes after. Today what punished us was the fact they managed to capitalise on the two little mistakes for the two goals we were behind, but I am very proud of the Birmingham players and the Club today because on a very tough situation at 2-0 down we put them in a corner, we went for it, we went for it and probably deserved the win."

Pep Clotet on the pivotal moment of Lukas Jutkiewicz's penalty miss at 2-2, when there only looked like one winner...

"That's the beauty of the game - sometimes what it looks like, it doesn't happen. It was a pity for us bit I saw a side that never gave up, went for it, we were much better than them. For me they are a very good team, but we took the game to them. I saw a side that never gave up today, we went for it. We created a lot of chances, some of them clear, unfortunately we didn’t score more and I think they were fortunate on two goals. But it is not about focusing on mistakes it is about focusing on making sure that's the mentality we have and we keep growing as a team. We are not in a bad position in the league, maybe we didn’t win points today but we won a lot more things."

Pep Clotet on the mistakes that gifted Derby goals...

"It's about supporting. Especially when it's something like a slip and you fall to the floor. At the end of the day, it's about supporting the players. I'm not worried about those mistakes, really. I am more focused on the ability of the team to get out of a tough situation that was 2-0 down."

Pep Clotet on Blues perhaps being too open due to their attacking intent...

"The important thing in football is to deserve things. Today we deserved more than we got. That is what we need to do as a team - try to deserve everything. I think today we played like a big team away from home. Unfortunately we didn’t take the points. From here we congratulate Derby - but I am more happy with my side despite the result."
