REACTION: Wigan 1 Blues 0

We missed that bit of clarity on the final ball. We had a lot of crosses into the box and a lot of attacks. But clarity on that final ball was not there and then it's difficult to score your chances. Despite that, we dictated more of the game and if it had to be a 0-0 - which is what it looked like - it was more balanced to our side.

Pep Clotet talks after defeat at the DW Stadium...

Pep Clotet on the result...

"I am obviously not happy because I think we were heading to a 0-0 game unfortunately the incident for their goal makes us lose that point we worked so hard to have. I was happy during the game because I thought our side started very well, did a very good first-half and attacked the game. Second-half the game was more tight, it was difficult to create more, for both teams. The game entered a phase where nothing as happening. We looked to get a bit more freshness with the two wingers - Kerim Mrabti and Odin Bailey came on and did well - to get us that push, but in the end I thought the game was a clear 0-0. Obviously that wasn’t the result, we only think about the ability to bounce back now."

Pep Clotet on Wigan's goal...

"Lee Camp spoke to the lads and everyone supports him, we are a team, we know inside the dressing room we are a team when we win and a team when we lose. I think the fans respect that as well. They will back us and help us as much as possible on Friday to bounce back against Middlesbrough. I understand when that happens you get criticism, as a professional it’s about handling that and focusing on your ability to do well. I don’t think his confidence will be affected because when you value everything he has done so far I think he has started the league very, very well - on a really good level, on a better level than last season. We need to value what he has done the whole season.  I am very happy with all his work so far this season."

Pep Clotet and Blues failing to find that punch in the last third...

"We missed that bit of clarity on the final ball. We had a lot of crosses into the box and a lot of attacks. But clarity on that final ball was not there and then it's difficult to score your chances. Despite that, we dictated more of the game and if it had to be a 0-0 - which is what it looked like - it was more balanced to our side. The team didn't really suffer defensively and we always had the ability to impose ourselves offensively, to play from the back, go forward and create attacks."

Pep Clotet on Jake Clarke-Salter's first league start for Blues, coming in for Marc Roberts, who had a tight hamstring...

"He played with a lot of maturity. He was very focused. He dealt very well with the physicality of the game. Jake worked very well with Harlee Dean too. He's quick, he covers the lines well, and with the ball he was good. It was a positive game for Jake, I'm happy for him. We took him off (in the 83rd minute) as he was feeling the effects of cramp. It wasn't what we intended, but we felt it right because of that .As we wanted to go more offensive we put Gary Gardner back in defence and went with one in midfield and three number tens behind the two strikers, we wanted to try and get something."
