REACTION: Luton Town 1 Blues 2

It was outstanding. The team has been working a lot in the last month utilising our resources in the squad to score more goals.

Pep Clotet spoke to the media after the 2-1 win over Luton Town.

Pep Clotet on the result...

"It was a very important win for us, first because we are coming from a win against Blackburn Rovers and we knew how important it was for us to get a win in the league after the tough month we had. We knew the difficulties of the match and how to exploit them. It felt like a six-pointer of a match because it puts a bigger gap between us and the relegation spots and set us back on track. Now we have something strong to build upon with these two wins. The game was very difficult but the players deserve massive credit because they understood and they were on top of a Luton side that we managed to leave without clear shots. We could possibly have scored other goals as well."

Pep Clotet on Harlee Dean's sending-off, which left Blues having to negotiate the last four minutes plus six added minutes with 10 men...

"I haven’t seen it back but during the game I thought it was a booking, maybe. Finishing the game with ten men feels a little bit like another day at the office to be fair, after what happened against Blackburn last week in the FA Cup. We were winning 1-0, they got a penalty, a red card. We played with 10 men for half-an-hour. But we still managed to get a win in that game. The team has worked a lot on how to play these situations, the team was organised straight away and did their best. They came a little bit more at us, they managed to play 11 v 10 better than Blackburn managed against us and put us under a little bit more stress but still I think we defended our box very well. But still we caught them on a few breaks. Actually, in those 10 minutes, we still had another chance by Dan Crowley, even if the shot was not the best. But we did, again, show a lot of commitment, a lot of unity, for the badge, including the whole bench, who were trying to help the lads. The fans, as well, helped us. But I didn't feel the team was suffering or struggling when we went down to 10 men. We kept our organisation and focus."

Pep Clotet on Gary Gardner's decisive strike...

"It was outstanding. The team has been working a lot in the last month utilising our resources in the squad to score more goals. We have scored a lot off set plays, we have improved our breaks because we are a team when we have space we can score a lot of goals. The way Jacques Maghoma and Gazza finished that play was very good."

Pep Clotet on Lukas Jutkiewicz's fourth minute opener...

"Jukey comes from last season scoring 14 goals now it's January and he's on nine. He is a capital player for us, a very important player for is in our offensive game and as well in our defensive situations. He has a lot of character, a very important person in the locker room. He is always very positive and very focused. The goal he scored, he is very strong in those situations, as we all know. At the same time, we knew that defending crosses was a weakness for Luton so we tried to exploit that. The goal put the game towards our control because we knew after we didn't necessarily need all the possession to dictate who we wanted it to go."
