Pep Clotet says he will make a late decision on the fitness of Marc Roberts ahead of  Saturday's home game against Cardiff City.

With captain Harlee Dean suspended for two games following his sending off at Luton Town, Roberts would be the obvious choice to partner Jake Clarke-Salter in the centre of the Blues defence.

But the defender has not played since sustaining an ankle injury against Millwall at the start of December

"It's still a bit early to decide but Marc Roberts has trained all week," said Blues' Head Coach.

"That's very good news for us, but we don't know if he'll be available for Saturday.

"If Marc doesn't recover, it will be Wes (Harding)."

Clotet also confirmed that Dutch midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld continues to make progress with his rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury.

"Kieftenbeld has been training with us all week," continued Clotet.

"We hope that he can feature in some Under-23 games soon.

"He's done the whole training with us today and there were no problems with his knee.

"It's about speeding up a little bit his fitness levels and making sure he can be ready to help us as soon as possible."

One player who is definitely back in contention for a start against The Bluebirds is Ivan Sunjic who missed Blues' win at Luton because of suspension.

"It's not easy to come into English football and especially the Championship," said Clotet when asked about the midfielder's impact on the side.

"There are a lot of games in a short space of time and it's very difficult to maintain your performance levels game in and game out.

"He's learned that and managed that very well and proved this season how good he is and how good he will be for the future of the Club."
