The 2020/21 FA Youth Cup has been suspended by the Football Association and has discussed this with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.

This announcement means that Blues FA Youth Cup tie against Manchester City, due to be played on Thursday 14 January, has been suspended until further notice.

In a statement released this afternoon, Tuesday 12 January 2021, the Football Association said the following.

“The health and wellbeing of players and staff are of paramount importance and The FA intends to resume the national competition once the UK Government’s current national COVID-19 lockdown concludes and it is deemed safer for clubs to travel.

“The FA Youth Participation & Development Committee, which is responsible for management of the competition, will continue to review the situation and The FA will provide further updates at the earliest opportunity.”

Details of a new date for Blues’ trip to the Academy Stadium will be communicated through the Club’s official channels.

However, until further notice, all matches in the FA Youth Cup are suspended with immediate effect.
