Report: Blues Under-18s 0-3 Fulham Under-18s

We have just got to keep trying to build and keep getting better.

Blues Under-18s were beaten by table-topping Fulham in the Premier League South on Saturday lunchtime.

The Whites struck twice in the first-half and added a third after the break to wrap up victory at Wast Hills Training Ground on an afternoon when Blues were limited to half-chances.

Jaylan Wildbore opened the scoring with a far-post finish in the 24th minute and Michael Olakigbe made it two on the cusp of half-time as he capitalised on a mistake in the home side's defence.

Fulham's England youth international then rounded off the scoring and completed a personal brace with 15 minutes left on the clock, finding the top corner from 25-yards.

The game was the fourth in a sequence of six fixtures against teams from the capital, with the Cottagers clash following on from matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal, before Blues take on Crystal Palace and West Ham United after the international break.

Speaking to in the aftermath of the meeting with Fulham, Martyn Olorenshaw felt his side were too late to get going in the West Midlands.

He said: "We struggled to get a foothold in the game. First-half we struggled and although we were better after the break, they were two goals to the good.

"It was frustrating coming off the back of some really good performances and a win over Aston Villa for the Under-17s. We just weren't at the level that we needed to be at."

With the team now entering the international break, the Lead Under-18s coach feels this pause to the match schedule comes at a good time, whilst he took a look at what is in the near future.

Olorenshaw explained: "We have had a really busy period and a really tough run of fixtures. The break has come at a good time and everyone can have a few days off, hit the reset button and then get ready to go again.

"We have just got to keep trying to build and keep getting better. We are still finding our feet but have performed well in some games. We are also getting Under-18s playing for the Under-23s which is fantastic.

"There are some fixtures on the horizon where I think we can get some good results. Nothing is a given though, we still have to perform well."
