Blues go green with Pledgeball
Birmingham City fans will be competing with supporters from clubs across the Football League in a battle to become the most sustainable, thanks to new Club partner Pledgeball.
The organisation, which encourages fans to make pledges to reduce their matchday emissions, will pit fans from rival clubs against each other, mirroring the Sky Bet Championship fixture that week. Blues launch the new partnership this weekend away at Ashton Gate.
Fans can make pledges on www.pledgeball.org – anything from committing to going vegan for a day to litter picking in your street can help us get the better of Bristol City fans this week, as Pledgeball aims to educate football fans about how they can do their bit for the environment.
The impact Blues can have is tangible, for example, if the whole of a St. Andrew’s crowd were to limit their showers to just five minutes, this saves the same amount of carbon emissions as taking 2,058 cars off the road.
Ciara Gallagher, Governance and Regulatory Manager at Blues, said: “Football has a big part to play in reducing carbon emissions, and here at Blues we’re committed to doing what we can to reduce our footprint.
“The partnership with Pledgeball is a fun way to engage with fans and adds a competitive element to tackling environmental issues. We hope fans make some pledges this weekend and we can finish above Bristol City.”
