Fran Stenson rejoins Blues!

Blues Women are delighted to announce the signing of Fran Stenson on loan.

The 21-year-old returns to the Club on a season-long loan from Barclays Women’s Super League side Arsenal.

Stenson becomes Darren Carter’s sixth signing of the summer.

The goalkeeper spent the first-half of last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, before returning the Gunners in January.

After agreeing to terms for the season, Stenson told BluesTV of her excitement at being back at the Club.

"It feels great to be back. It feels like home. I'm looking forward to getting going.

"Speaking to Darren and Jo, I feel like now is the right time to come here. Their ambitions are also what I want to achieve."

Followers of the Club's social media channels will have also noticed a new theme to the transfer reveal, which sees Birmingham City partner with the NHS and to emphasise the importance of blood donation and the defender's signing profiled Ravi Kumar, who decided to start giving blood because of a shortage of people coming forward to give blood from the Asian community in the city.

Progressing through Blues’ Academy pathway, the shot stopper made her professional debut in 2017 as a second-half substitute in the side’s 2-1 victory against Everton.

Following this, she made the move to Manchester City, where she made her debut in the FA WSL Cup against our Second City rivals.

A short loan spell at Blackburn Rovers then saw her secure a long-term deal at her current club Arsenal.

This saw her immediately return to Rovers for a second spell, where she made nine appearances before seeing her stint cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Welcome back to Blues, Fran!
