MATCH ACTION:

It was Blues that started on the front foot. A corner was only half cleared and found its way to Wilson, but her low drive was well held by Claudia Moan.

Libby Smith thought she had put Blues ahead, but for the flag to be raised for offside. Jade Pennock rolled it across to the striker who finished well.

That combination then carved the next opportunity. This time Smith played it to Pennock, but her strike from range was saved by Moan.

On the stroke of half-time, Christie Murray played in a driven corner and Scott was there to hook it into the far corner for her first goal since January 2020

Half-time: Sunderland 0-1 Blues

Sunderland had a chance at the start of the second-half. Summer signing Tyler Dodds picked up the ball and struck towards goal from around 25-yards out, but Lucy Thomas comfortably saved.

Second-half substitute Lucy Quinn drove forward and played it into Pennock. After carrying it towards the box, she rolled the ball to Wilson who fired across goal and into the top right-hand corner.

Seven minutes later, Louise Quinn climbed above her marker but saw her header saved by Moan. But Hodson reacted quickest to prod in.

Goalscorer Wilson was then involved in the fourth. Her ball across found Pennock, but the keeper did well to save. Finn was ready and waiting to roll it into the bottom corner for her first Blues goal.

Siobhan Wilson scored her first goal for the Club.
